I like what he is doing. It is ironic that in many occasions it takes someone from somewhere else to notice the issues that we have under our noses, or to take action and try to fix it.
It is also interesting that there's people close to the ocean who have never been there. I Puerto Rico, technically small island, there are people who live less than an hour from the ocean and have never been. I live in Florida and I've met people who've never been either. Between stereotypes, subcultures, and racial discrimination there is a lot of fabric to cut in this topic. Fascinating.
